Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how UnFox Unarchiver ("UnFox," "the app," "we," or "us") handles your information. UnFox is developed by Marcel Iseli, based in Biel, Switzerland. This policy applies to the UnFox application on macOS, iOS, and iPadOS, as well as the website at unfox.dev.
Data We Collect
UnFox does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information, usage data, or device information. A single local timestamp is stored securely on your device to recognize early adopters (see Local Device Identifier below). This data never leaves your device. There is no account system, no registration, and no sign in.
No Network Calls
UnFox makes zero HTTP requests. The app does not connect to any server on launch, during extraction, or at any other time. There is no update checker, no telemetry endpoint, no background sync, and no remote configuration.
Local Processing
All archive extraction operations run entirely on your device. File contents, file names, archive metadata, and extraction history never leave your Mac, iPhone, or iPad. No data is sent to external servers for processing.
Local Device Identifier
UnFox stores a single local identifier in your device's secure Keychain to recognize early adopters for potential future benefits. This identifier contains only the date the app was first launched. It never leaves your device, is not linked to your identity, and is not shared with anyone. No other local identifiers or tokens are stored.
File Access
UnFox accesses files only when you explicitly select them through the file picker, drag and drop, the Finder context menu, or the share extension. On iOS and iPadOS, the app uses security scoped resource handling and never requests broad filesystem permissions. The app does not scan, index, or catalog files on your device.
No Analytics or Tracking
UnFox does not include any analytics SDK, crash reporting framework, advertising identifier, or telemetry system. There are no page views, no session tracking, no usage metrics, and no performance monitoring. The app has no concept of user behavior measurement.
No Third-Party Services
UnFox does not integrate with any third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks that collect data. There are no advertising networks, no analytics providers, and no social media integrations within the app.
Website
The UnFox website at unfox.dev does not use cookies, does not set local storage values, and does not include any analytics or tracking scripts. The website does not collect any visitor data.
Children's Privacy
Because UnFox collects no data from any user, the app is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 or any other age group. Since no data is collected at all, there is nothing to disclose, delete, or restrict.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Because UnFox collects no data, changes to this policy are expected to be rare.
